Making of The Evil Within

"Survival horror has been drifting away from what it makes survival horror. And so I want to bring it back." those are the words of the famous Shinji Mikami creator of Resident Evil. With his studio Tango Gameworks  based in Tokyo he will try to restore the essence of the genre with their debut game The Evil Within.

"There are a lot of survival horror games out there nowadays, but the thing that I want to focus on is having the perfect balance between horror and action." that is according to Mikami's opinion the essence of a pure survival horror. We or at least I am really looking forward to this since I am a horror game fan. For all the hopes of all horror game fans and the reputation of Shinji Mikami we all hope it will be a great success.

Here are some screenshots that were released with the video.

No one, no where kind of a bad omen?

Ok this IS kinda bad.

Safehead says Hello.

That wall behind you really needed repainting.

Oh sorry I didn't know you were changing in here.

Bethesda teases finally reveal the truth - The Evil Within announced

After a couple of creepy teaser trailers of the last few days Bethesda has finally revealed via a short yet longer than before teaser trailer The Evil Within. The upcoming title will be a survivor-horror game developed by Shinji Mikami the developer behind titles like Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4.

According to Bethesda more info will be coming on Monday. Now without further adieu lets have a  look at the new really disturbing live action trailer. Those of you that are fans of horror movies from the 90s will surely enjoy it.

Bethesda Softworks teasers - could it be a new Fallout or something else?

Since April 16th Bethesda been uploading short teaser videos of a new project that is somehow connected to these short loop videos. Some are theorizing that they are teasers for a new Fallout game others like Eurogamer think it is a new Wolfenstein or Project Zwei or the project is something completely new.

What do we know about these short teasers, since April 16th there has always been at least one video per day on Bethesdas twitter. They all go in an infinite loop and for me they appear in a way to be disturbing with this feeling being greater with every new video.

The first video shows a barbed wire with a scratchy record sound.

The second video shows Sunflowers burning (well that can't be good) with a man behind them (really starting to creep me out) the scratchy record sound appears again.

And the last trailer from less than 15 hours ago shows a creepy window with one light source and it would appear something is moving in the darkness.

What do these short teasers mean no one knows exactly we will be awaiting another video today and see if it gives us more clues. Or better wait for an official statement from Bethesda. We will keep you updated.

What do you all think? Do the videos thus far make sense? What could possibly be this new title?

Development behind Whore of the Orient - supposedly ended?

As of now the team responsible for creating Whore of the Orient, a detective thriller set in 1936, with L.A. Noir creator Brendan McNamara  is reported to be shutting down after loosing its publishers financial support. Until now they were part of a KMM games division.

Interestingly after loosing their publisher at the end of 2012 the team still was looking for employees most recently a lead programmer which date goes back to April 5th 2013. There are possibilities that the studio might have been looking for new employees till the last minute or it was close to gaining a new publisher. But with the controversies behind Team Bondis closure the distrust of the investors is quite understandable.

The actual situation is not 100% for sure and still wasn't confirmed from KMM.

Nintendo Direct trailer

To all Zelda fans. Today during the Nintendo Direct presentation Satoru Shibata President of Nintendo Europe announced that Legend of Zelda will be coming on the Nintendo 3DS. Well to be precise about the titles it will be The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons which were a critical and commercial success. Bringing the Legend of Zelda titles to old and new players alike. The games will be re-released on May 30th Nintendo eShop Europe.

New info on Final Fantasy Versus XIII is coming ... or is it?

"I'm sorry there are things I can't yet talk about, but please wait a little longer." those are the words of the designer Tetsuya Nomura that were uttered on the  Square Enix radio program about the new Final Fantasy title dubbed "Versus" by the designer.

For now we can at least confirm the existence of the title that Square Enix has been developing for the past 7 years. Nomura also stated that they will reveal the reason behind the delay of releasing info about the game. As of now FFV XIII holds the record of the longest time spent developing a single Final Fantasy game. Whether this long development cycle will help the game remains to be seen.

With only 2 months until E3 and different rumors spreading we can only guess what will be displayed.

Burnout and Need for Speed developer Criterion moving away from racing games

"It is time to make something new" those are the words of Criterion Games the developers behind games like Burnout and Need for Speed.

Alex Ward boss of the UK developer in a series of tweets told gamers not to get too excited as a new title of NFS, Burnout or other of the studios racer games won't be out that soon.

"Here is what I want folks to know," said Ward. "Some folks are eternally disappointed. Nothing I can do about that. So many tweets asking for new Burnout."

The Night Train: Can't be surprised about that now can we?

"Equally many tweets asking for a new NFS game from us. Also Road Rash. Whilst I love all of those games, I am personally not doing any."

"As a diehard NES gamer in the late '80s UK I was misled by many gaming mags hinting at games to be released," said Ward, adding that "most games did not get a PAL release. Most of the hot stuff was JPN and USA only. Hence I hate to mislead ANYONE."

The Night Train: For that we thank you.

"No point saving up hard earned money for your fave game not to come. Trust me, I have been there." "After over a decade of making racing games it's time to make something new. It is early days thus I have nothing to 'announce' or talk about."

So for now what the studio is making is unknown to us for the fans of NFS we still have good news seems that EA assured the series continue after establishing a studio at Gothenburg known as Ghost that will create new NFS games using the DICE Frosbite engine on which is the new Battlefield 4 running on.

New GTA V artwork

Two pictures that is right two artworks from Rockstar of their upcoming GTA V  doesn't sound much but as it is said better something than nothing. Of course the community is as always thankful and happy that someone is thinking about them. For more artworks and backgrounds you can visit the studios site and fashion your background and prepare for the release of the game in advance which will be in September.

Bethesda - no more DLC for Skyrim

Today in a blog post the Bethesda team working on Skyrim wrote that they are moving on: „For the last year and a half we’ve been working on new content for Skyrim; from the game updates, Creation Kit, Steam Workshop, Kinect support, toDLCs. Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet.“

"Even though we’re moving on, we’ll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed. We’ve invested so much of ourselves into Skyrim and will never truly say goodbye to it."

Until now Bethesda released 3 DLC packs - Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn. Later today Bethesda marketing VP confirmed that there will be no more DLC to Skyrim.

Gameplay video The Elder Scrolls Online

It is finally here. After hearing about rumors of a non official gameplay video of TESO which was in an hour taken down from the net. We have here another gameplay video that we all hope will last long enough for us to see it.

So what will this 20 minute video be showing us? Well we can't say a lot will be shown but we can at least get a picture of what awaits us.  As expected from the Elder Scrolls series we see the character design which as always is quite broad and some of the game mechanics.

From the gameplay we can sense that TESO is loyal to its roots when it comes to the atmosphere of the game although the first person perspective is definitely something unique for Elder Scrolls there are still doubts whether it will be enough for the players and if it won't be just another MMORPG with no innovations to address a larger audience. It is still early to judge and there still  might be changes ahead the game surely has potential and in many ways Tamriel may yet surprise us.

There seems to be a problem with uploading the video for now I will post a Link.

Dragon's Crown trailer - or the reason we want to play as a sorceress

Dragon's Crown is an upcoming title for the PS 3 and PS Vita from Atlus. Now those of you that are acquainted with Atlus are aware that they are really good in creating good games and stunning artwork that are a part of every their title. With Dragon's Crown I think it won't be any different.

Now I believe that I am not the only one who was a little puzzled/surprised, it's hard to describe it by words, by the trailer. I'm not saying that the trailer is bad or anything although I think that the class introduced in the game will be a choice for the most for her ehm... qualities.

But I will let you decide that on your own. Enjoy.

Steam - Early Access Games

Valve has just launched Steam Early Access, a program designed to let Steam users an early gameplay of titles that are still in development. It would seem that Valves effort to let the community shape the games is finally here, time will tell what will come of it.

Here is the original press release:

Steam Early Access titles allow the community to get involved early and play select titles during their development. The goal of Early Access is to provide gamers with the chance to "go behind the scenes" and experience the development cycle firsthand and, more importantly, have a chance to interact with the developers by providing them feedback while the title is still being created.
To support the interaction between Early Access players and developers, Steam offers easy and automatic updating of games, letting developers iterate quickly to respond directly to bug reports and feedback from customers. And, like all Steam games, Early Access players will be able to interact with other players, making it easy to create and share screenshots, tips, and in-depth guides.
"A lot of games are already operating as ongoing services that grow and evolve with the involvement of customers and the community," said Sean Pollman of Badland Studio. "Greenlight helped us raise awareness for Kinetic Void, and now Steam Early Access will let us continue the development of our game while gathering crucial feedback, input and support from the steam Community."
The first titles coming to Steam Early Access are:
  • 1... 2... 3... KICK IT! (Drop That Beat Like an Ugly Baby)
  • Arma 3
  • Drunken Robot Pornography
  • Gear Up
  • Gnomoria
  • Kenshi
  • Kerbal Space Program
  • Kinetic Void
  • Patterns
  • Prison Architect
  • StarForge
  • Under the Ocean

Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm

Surely the name Stracraft 2 doesn't need introduction many of us awaited the arrival of the next expansion/patch/game, call it whatever you like, of this magnificent RTS. Although Blizzard seems to take advantage of the franchises popularity by selling the "new" game for quite a price the fact is that HotS will be a great game, at least the trailers are making sure that it is.

The cinematic of HotS is surely a great feat of Blizzards Cinematic department.

With the 12th of March behind us we can all enjoy the lifestyle of the swarm the launch event on the 11th surely was worth it and gave us quite a smile the next cinematic gave me personally a good laugh.

Although I write this post a bit late I hope that all will enjoy HotS to their fullest. Lets unleash the Swarm everyone and enjoy a great game. GL and HF.

Warcraft 3 in Starcraft 2?

Even after 11 years Warcraft 3 is still played and it seems that this trend won't end so soon. With it came the idea of fans to create a modification of the game in Starcraft 2 bringing with it the visual side of Warcraft 3.  The developers are planning to create new units as well as changing the games interface so that the player does not feel like he is playing a new Warcraft. Fingers crossed guys! We all hope you will succeed.
